Marijuana: yay or nay?

One large issue that was addressed in the 2012 US elections was the legality of Marijuana.

So, what is your take on it? Should it be legal? No? Why or why not?

I think it should be legal on the basis of personal freedom of choice. One of my pet-peeves is the way people will oppose something that has a neutral impact on their lives, on a merely aesthetic basis. That applies largely to this topic; people will oppose marijuana legalization because they don't like the smell of pot smoke, or because they find the stereotypical image of a pothead to be unpalatable.

I think people should be free to do with their person as they wish. I also think people should be able to smoke cigarettes, or joints, anywhere they wish, unless the owner of an establishment decides to ban smoking from their property. But let's face reality; that'll probably never happen. Today's society is irritating.

Media goes to the fact that marijuaba is able to be uused recreationally and therefore is determined as a threat.

That's another weird and annoying, but typical argument. We don't consider mountain climbing or skydiving a threat, yet those things are surely recreational. They're also dangerous to the individuals that practice them.
